What is hair supposed to feel like?

I have been told that my hair is soft. Isn't all hair supposed to feel soft unless you have split ends or so.

    maybe they are surprised because it is soft for someone mixed with black

    It depends. If you use conditioner daily, then your hair will be soft. If you don't, then it may not be. Other factors, such as straight vs. curly hair, may also change the softness of hair.
