Why is this country so consumed in helping every other nation except our own people?
For Haiti, Hollywood had a telethon, for Japan, Yahoo had a link to donate on the main page, for other countries there is an outcry for those to donate and help. For Missouri, Alabama, and other states where they've just had massive destruction and hundreds of thousands have lost everything, there is nothing. People are dead and missing yet I hear not a word from the media about giving help like I have for other countries natural disasters. This is sickening!

Wrong Goldblum. I donated to both including my own state of Georgia who also experienced damage due to tornado outbreaks. I did what I could monetarily and gave extra non-perishable food items/goods. Don't tell me what I didn't do, you don't have a clue.
I don't need instructions Nathan, I just find it incredibly odd and disturbing that you hear practically nothing about encouraging relief donations in the media yet that's all you hear when it comes to another country.

I am getting so sick and tired of people complaining. The reason you haven't heard about helping is because your sitting on your sofa waiting for the "media" to tell you what to do.
Fortunately thousands of real Americans got off their rumps and came to help. None of the people in Missouri or Alabama are living in tents, none have missed a meal and truckloads of relief supplies have already arrived. Sorry it didn't make the news where you live, but the people that came didn't do it for publicity.

Because the People of Missouri and Alabama are a strong people, they are getting funding trust me but they are not sucking us dry like leeches.
Remember Katrina? New Orleaneans wouldn't shut up about that for years, some are still trying to milk it for all its worth.

Notice the connection there? All liberal groups who would rather support other countries and undermine America...especially red states like MO and AL. If there was a massive earthquake in San Fran or a disaster in some other lib haven, watch how quickly they would roll out the support wagons.

they don't like america, there all communist, also it shows the presidents is a slacker and does not do his job, the guy spends most of his time playing golf and going on vacation and partying.
that's why they stopped showing Haiti after the quake, obama sent help after many and i mean many days from his initial speech of sending aid, and then after it got there, water/food just sat at the airport. meanwhile other countries sent medicine/doctors/troops to acutely help people.
american aid in japan, what did they do? direct traffic? last i herd no american was allowed to be within 50 miles of the reactors and then they extended it.
the media shelters and protects obama and his lack of work in his job, remember when they asked him about abortion obama said "its above my pay grade" what a great leader we got.
people are helping how and when they can and the media is not doing anything. because it shows the president is not doing his job,
texas and many other states have yet to get federal aid, why? because obama knows he will not win those states in 2012 so he wants them to suffer. the liberal left is the same as there leader.

Haiti and japan's quakes were infinitely bigger than the tornado outbreak. Regardless, I bet you didn't donate anything to any of them.
Also it's funny you didn't mention Katrina because Hollywood has done a lot for those victims.

that is a problem. I'm not against helping other countries, but we should make sure we're ok first.
that being said we're still better off than some other countries and by comparison, they need the help more. even at our worst, we're still pretty well off.

because our country is one of very few countries that is fortunate enough to be able to help all of these countries....it really is dumb though and i completely agree with you that other countries should do something as well and stop just criticizing us for not giving enough of our own money.

Unlike Libs, I donate to help every person in need.
Source(s): Donated $10 to Haiti and $10 to Japan and $20 for the repertion in the south. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Great question, and I have no idea. Maybe we need to call in Dr Phil on this one.
