Problems watching movies from cable internet.?

I have a 2005 Dell dimension cp.

2.6 ghz single core

1g memory

No additional video or graphic card installed.

When I watch a move from the internet, it will freeze and it says buffering and after a while it continues.

Is it doing it because I may not have enough memory?

Is it because my possessor has a lower speed of 2.6 ghz ?

I have broadband unlimited cable internet of 5 or 8 meg. so I do not think that would be the fault.

Would a graphics card help with this problem and if so which one?

What would be the main reason that a movie would freeze and need to buffer before the movie will continue.

I would like to get this straightened out before I subscribe to netflix etc...

Thank you for your help.

It has little to do with your PC and EVERYTHING to do with your download speed. If your PC is wireless, that compounds the problem. You lose speed on a home wireless network. Get wired if you aren't already. Secondly, run a speed test. 2 other things to keep in mind, 1: watching hi def video tends to lag even on the best of connections, 2: the farther from a server you are, the worse the lag will be.

Test here and tell us what you get.

EDIT: Sounds like you have everything you need, at this point, your best bet is to start the movie, pause it, and let it buffer for a few minutes.

Your network connection has slow speeds. Your computer is ok.
