  • Problems watching movies from cable internet.?

    I have a 2005 Dell dimension cp.

    2.6 ghz single core

    1g memory

No additional video or graphic card installed.

When I watch a move from the internet, it will freeze and it says buffering and after a while it continues.

Is it doing it because I may not have enough memory?

Is it because my possessor has a lower speed of 2.6 ghz ?

I have broadband unlimited cable internet of 5 or 8 meg. so I do not think that would be the fault.

Would a graphics card help with this problem and if so which one?

What would be the main reason that a movie would freeze and need to buffer before the movie will continue.

I would like to get this straightened out before I subscribe to netflix etc...

    Thank you for your help.

  • Video / graphic card question?

I am looking to buy a video / graphic card for the first time.

I noticed that it would say that the memory would be DDR3.

Does this mean that the memory on the mother board has to be a DDR3 also or does it mean that the video / graphic card board has the DDR3 incorporated and the pc motherboard could have any type of memory?

Is there anything else I have to look out for ?

    Thank you.

  • xp / ubuntu partition on Dell dimension 3000?

I have a dell dimension 3000 with xp home. A while back I put ubumtu on the hard drive so I can dry it out. Every time I turn the CP on I get a screen that let me choose what operating system I want to run. ( 1. Windows OS or 2. Ubuntu ).

How can I get rid of Ubuntu so this screen does not come up and I don't have to tell the CP that I want to run the Windows OS every time I turn the CP on ?

    Thank you.

  • Wiresize of wire for a 700 foot run?

I need to run wire for a 10 amp load 700 feet.

I do not know the voltage yet that I need but could you calculate it for 110 Volts and 220 volts.

Also could you calculate it for copper and for aluminum at 110 volts and 220 Volts.

Is there a formula and could you post it with example?

  • XP home edition, my computer drives not showing?

I have a XP Home Edition, version 2002, service pack 3, Dell Dimension DIM 3000, 2.66 GHZ, 1.25 GB of Ram.

A drive, C drive 40 GB, D drive CD, 2 USB front, 2 USB back ( 1 used by brother scanner, copier, fax machine).

1 cable modem, 1 router, 1 VOIP phone modem.

Problem, If I click on " My Computer " non of the drives are showing. no A.C,D,E or USB's. The only thing that is showing is the " brother machine, name Document and shared Documents ".

If I plug in a flash drive in the USB, I hear a dong, but nothing is showing. I can upload a file to the flash drive using win-rar and it is there ( I checked that with a different computer), but I can not find the drive. I tried to find the drives using windows explorer, but it is not showing either.

The drives are working but I can not transfer or check files on the drives, since I can not see the drives or files on them.

How can I make the computer to show the drives if I click on " My Computer " like it used to be?

Can you give me a more detailed instruction( what tab to push) to do that, since I know some about cp's but I am not a expert.

    Thank you for your help?
