Why is my xbox 360 screen darker than normal?

I have one of the new 360s, the black ones with built in wireless and touch buttons. This morning I started it up and found that the screen is much darker than normal, almost as if the screen dimmer is on permanently. No, the settings on my tv have not changed, I checked. What's more, after about 2 minutes or so the screen goes completely black! I do have a Kinect that I unplugged yesterday to move it, but I have plugged it back in. I've only had my xbox for about 6 months. Please help!

Update:

Also, I am using an HDMI cable and have never had a problem before.

Update 2:

One more thing! When I very first start it up and the xbox logo is loading, the screen is at it's normal brightness!! But about half way through the logo loading, it fades to dimmed.

Update 3:

Thanks for the suggestions. No, my HDMI is not Microsoft, but I have been using the same cable since I got the box 6 months ago and I haven't ever had this problem. I called xbox support and they couldn't figure it out either. Looks like I'm going to have to send it in and go 2-3 weeks without my precious xbox!! ;_;

    Sounds fishy, Is your HDMI cable Microsoft branded? If it's not then, You need to get a Microsoft branded one and you got ripped off, OR Your HDMI cable may need to be check to make sure it's connected to you 360 AND your HDMI input on your TV.
