Automatically shut down computer based on temperature?

Is there a way to program a computer to automatically shut down a computer when the internal temperature gets above a certain point? e.g. when my computer gets above 85'C, it automatically turns everything off, no matter what else is happening. Or, better yet, going into hibernation mode instead of just shutting off?

You would need to monitor the temperature (not sure if most laptops even have a thermometer) and create a program referencing the temperature and force hibernation.

It's definitely possible, but there isn't a set method.
