The word Orange in different languages?
In your language, is the word "Orange" the same for BOTH the fruit and its colour?
In English it is.
What about other languages? If not, can you tell us what the words are?
[Ed..] You mean there's no original Japanese word for Orange? Are oranges (fruit) imported into Japan?... furthermore, didn't you have the colour 'Orange" before the 'English' came to Japan?

Yes, you've translated the word 'Orange' to many other languages: but you haven't answered my question. This is the perfect example of - poor application of knowledge/info.
What I want to know is are all those translated words for Orange mean BOTH the fruit and the colour?

It is different in Persian.
Color is "narenji" ( نارنجی )
And the fruit is "porteghal" ( پرتقال )

Japanese is オレンジ (orenji), which is the same for both. But as you can see this is imported from english. Would be interesting to see others...
