Head Gasket for a Dodge Stratus ES?
Alright so I'm looking into a new vehicle with better gas mileage than my truck. 13 mpg is just terrible. I was cruising craigslist and found a car that needs a head gasket. It's a 2001 Dodge Stratus ES. I'm curious as to how much a head gasket would cost for a car like this?

well lets see here, a blown head gasket alone is roughly $500-$800, that's not including if your heads are cracked, your deck is warped, or any possible scenario that could accompany this which would probably total out the engine, so your looking at roughly $2,000-$3,000 for a new engine, not worth it.

If it has a blown head gasket, then the chances that the engine has been ran hot will be a factor to consider. Aluminum engine blocks and heads are easily damaged by overheating. (Cracking) This type of damage in an engine can usually get to be a very expensive repair. Good luck.

Its not going to be cheap and not knowing how many miles are on the car and condition, it may or may not be worth putting the money into.
