How does bridging amps work to doug and others?

There seems to b a debate on how bridging a multi channel amp works. Lets say you have a 2 channel amp thats 150 x 2 @ 4 ohms and 300 x 2 @ 2ohms. Now some say when you bridge the channels to a single 4 ohm load u would get 300 x 1. This doesnt make sense cuz the amp would do 600 watts stereo @ 2ohms so actually your total bridge power is 600 watts. Here is a link to a cea compliant hifonics amp. Scroll down to the specs and see what i mean http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23551_Hifonics...

Update:

Im not asking a question just making a point. Had to put it in question form to conform to yahoo answers rules. Some other things to consider when running at lower ohms or bridging. The distortion levels do increase slightly with cea compliant amps. But not by much. This is called THD% or total harmonic distortion. On amps that are NOT cea compliant the thd % increases drastically.

Yeah, you are right. I haven't installed in a few years and forgot about that but it is definitely something important to remember when giving people advice/recommendations, so thanks.

First off, that power rating is at 14.4v input.....a car only puts out about 12.5v, so your going to need at least a 1 farad cap to hold it at a constant 14.4.....second, NEVER buy an amp unless it gives a thd rating at the given rms power, and is CEA compliant. that amp will put out what is says, 800x1, but at what thd???? if its at .01%thd it would be an amazimg amp, if its a 1.0% thd, then not so good. if you are using it for a couple subs rated at 200w each it will work but its going to get hot....very hot, which in turn is going to destroy the amp sooner or later. for $199 there is way better amps out there...like
