Question for Shifty and the carlton supporters.?

Previously shifty posed a question on here about the Collingwood influence at his beloved carlton. He asked whether this was good or bad for the club. I would like to ask, how this magpie influence is looked at now, with the blues doing far better than I think even their most ardent supporters dreamed.

So the question, has the magpie influence in carlton town been beneficial, or detrimental to the way the blues are currently traveling?

Update:

Agreed shifty entirely with what you said. this question is however a further look at a question you posted earlier in the year from memory, as to the Collingwood influence at your club. What i would like to know is does anyone think that influence is positive or negative, and does it have any bearing on the current performance, exceptional that it is of the blues.

Update 2:

Excellant answer Night. What I was looking for. I never tried to insinuate that Collingwood exes were the sole reason for your success, just trying to guage how your feeling at this point of the season with the club travelling so well in my opinion. Good to see your keeping a lid on it. Cheers

I seriously think that is a question you need to ask Brett Ratten. i know Gavin Brown is one of the assistant coaches. but im not quite sure who the other ex Collingwood personal is.

The reason why im not looking too much into this at the moment. is because at the end of the day. the senior coach has his head on the chopping block not these guys. + we have also had the question on what personal at the club. are the difference between winning & loosing. & that responsibility always stops with the players at the end of the day.

Yes they may have played some small part. in Carlton's emergence up the ladder this season. but how do you gauge their influence on the players? we always have to remember that footy is a team sport. a game is never won by one or two individuals.

    cheers.

The other assistant coach from Collingwood is Alan Richardson - and of course, I believe our current recruitment officer was from Collingwood as well.

We're going along well - but in truth, all we've really seen is a harder edge in the club defensively this year - numerically - at least from wins and losses, we're almost the same as last year - it will be just after the halfway point whether or not we see the Blues efforts good enough for a top 4 finish.

Last year, we were 7-4 halfway in, and then we crashed, winning only 3 games in the second half of the season when we should have performed better IMO. I think that there has been positive contributions - but it's not solely "The Collingwood Factor" that's got us there.

I still think we're not quite top 4 material as yet, but time will tell.
