Is Memorial Day a holiday in your opinion?

Cousin Vinnie and I have decided that Memorial Day is not a 'holiday'... it is a day of remembrance and respect.

Unfortunately, the state of Washington has not acknowledged the Veterans who have passed away; the news reported that none of the state buildings carried their flags at half-mast.

We would appreciate your comments on this.

Thank you very much.

George Washington would not be proud of the state that bears his name. I sure as hell am not.

Memorial Day is a holiday and states and federal and city governments observe that day.

I know I put my flag out.

I know my garbage wasn't picked up today. My mail wasn't delivered. No courts were opened today. Of course government workers would declare a holiday for anything if they don't have to work.

I don't know if the government buildings lowered the flags here in Houston or not.

Memorial day is a day of remembrance. Sadly the average American citizen has been so dumbed down by the atrocious public education system that they don't know the meaning of the holiday.

Well, it's a day off, so yes, it IS a holiday. Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day/Armistice Day is more "celebrated" in the way you mean...

It's one of those holidays which feel like holidays but don't really hit the heart of most people who experience it.

american soldiers were responsible for the genocide of the true, native americans and theft of their land, and have continued to be the at the forefront of massacres of innocents and gang rapes of children ever since. what right thinking individual would not celebrate the deaths of such immoral butchers?
