Well, you question is kind of vague...

It could be a Heatagram, which appears on multiple album covers of the Finnish band HIM.

It's just a combination of a heart and a pentagram. It was created by HIM.

It could be a unicursal hexagram, although I know of several bands that use this symbol, I can't think of one that uses it for album covers.

It is a six pointed star that can be draw with one continuous unbroken line-not two overlaid triangles. It was used in Greek and Hindu culture to symbolize dedication to divinity, or the ruler ship of beneficent Gods. Alister Crowley made his own version with a five petaled rose at the center,

making a total of 11 points-believed by some to be the number of divine union. It is also commonly used by the Thelma religion, another creation of Crowleys.

It could also, perhaps,be a stylized version of the masonic emblem of the square and compass.

This shows up all over the place on different album covers, from the Beatles to Norwegian Black Metal. It is usually highly stylized, maintaining only it's basic shape. There are many theories, and much debate over what it actually symbolizes. Basically it's one of those symbols that has come to mean many things to many people, regardless of it's original intent.

Probably, your mystery symbol is one of those three. I can't think of another that fits you description off the top of my head...

First of all the Pentagram is not a satanic symbol when the top is pointed upward, in fact you will find it in a lot of older churches. It represents the 5 elements with Aether exalted above them all, it also represents the five wounds of Christ. An inverted Pentagram is meant to be a mockery of that, with aether at the bottom and the baser elements exalted above the others. Off the top of my head I don't think there are any satanic symbols that look like a Star of David, but I would have to actually see the symbol.

Maybe if you provided a link, or at least told us the name of the band, you'd have a better chance of getting an answer

The unicursive hexagram is Thelemic, not Satanic.

Symbols can be open to many interpretations. The people to ask would be the designers, or "owners" of the symbol in question.

"Star of David" symbols are used by many groups from civic groups to gangs.

    Have a nice day.

I looked up satanic symbols and there's multiple stars on the website.

Each one seems to have different meanings, here's the website:

Vague question. How many points does the star have? 6? It could be the unicursal hexagram that you're seeing, which is Thelemic, not Satanic (though I could see why black metal bands would use it).

    Example of unicursal hexagram: http://obscurantist.com/images/unicursal_hexagram....

Are you talking about the unicursal hexagram? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microso...

It was a symbol that Allister Crowley adopted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicursal_hexagram and it's a symbol that the band Behemoth uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behemoth_(band)

If it's the upside down pentagram, it's a goat's head. If it's right side up, it's Wiccan.
