I have a friend from Guatamala who has just become a natualized citizen in the United States.?

She wishes to return Gautamala to see her sick Mother. But...she is worried about how much time she is alloted there. How does this work? Will she be able to return to the States after, lets say, 6 months?

Update:

Thank you for your answer! One more question...does this also apply to a permanent U.S. resident as well?

US Citizen can stay outside of US as long as they want to. There is no limit. Make sure she travels out and in to US with US passport. If she works in her original country, she still has to file income tax with US.

US citizen can stay out of the US for as long as they wishes but need to file US taxes every year. Permanent Resident can stay out for 6 months to a year, if they exceed, their Green Card can be revoked unless they apply for reentry permit.
