What are some natural ant killers for in the house?

The ants of all sizes are coming into the house. Can't use chemicals because of allergies to them. What are some natural killers of the little beasts?

    I usually mix up a batch of table salt + rubbing alcohol for the annual hornet's nest that appears on the south side of the house. It kills wasps, it'll probably work on ants.

    The best and easiest method shown below is to sprinkle salt on the path ways the ants use to enter the home. They won't cross over the salt path and the ant problems are solved. It doesn't actually kill the nest or cause any environmental problems. Salt is something everyone should already have available and is relatively cheap. Hint: I've found trails around my foundation iin the basement and sprinkled salt to keep them from climbing up through the walls into the house.

    Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and spray on the area that what my mom does since me and 2 of my sisters have asthma and we cant use ant spray because of the odor Or you could try 50% water and 50% vinegar in a spray bottle or liquid detergent and water that will work too. Ants leave a trail that they can scent which makes it easier to get to whatever there trying to get by using the above ingredients it will wipe away the trail they scent therefore its more difficult for them to get back to where they were going.

    Look for cracks or holes in the house where the ants are coming from, spread any of these repellents around the holes Also spread around window sills, along baseboards, in corners and outside doors. The way it works is that since ants are repelled by these items, they’ll turn back. Success of the repellents can depend on the species of ants in your home. Use *cinamon

    *Ground Black Pepper

    *Bay Leaves Whole Cloves

    *Red Chili Powder sprinkle it or make a paste with water

    *Red pepper flakes

    *salt

    * Used Coffee Grounds

    * Sage

    * Cucumber Peels

    * Essential Oils: Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus. Swab these around entrance points.

    All of the above will keep ants away because of the smell or taste of it :-)

    Terro is something available at Walmart, runs about three bucks a bottle and works very well. It's a borax/sugar mix that desiccates them....great stuff.

    Edit: It's Borax "recognized by the EPA as one of the safest and least toxic chemicals available to consumers"

    This is what it looks like - seriously, this stuff impressed the daylights outta me.

    Good Luck

    You know those little packets of chemical sweetners called "Lite & Low" or "Sweet & Low" or whatever they're called that they give you in starbucks....... fake low calorie sugar rubbish??? get some next time you go for coffee or cake .... then find the source of the ants ... the nest where the little beasts are getting in .... and dump a packet of that on the entrance...... and sprinkle another packet or two along their trails ..... completely torched the biggest black ant nest i'd ever laid eyes on with just one little packet .... i had them crawling all up my fireplace and around my living room windows.... nasty looking big fat black ants ...... i found the nest outside next to the chimney.... **shivers** .. makes you wonder what thatshite does to your insides hey.

    bless

    Tink is talking about Boric Acid and it works very well. Mix it with some sugar water and set it out for the ants.

    Diatomaceous earth dusted around the perimeter of your house and along water pipes and/or drains under cabinets. Stops them before they enter. Also, you could do a light dusting around baseboards inside if you want. Check with your local green nursery.

    Diatomaceous earth is completely non-toxic and can be used for any crawling insects.

    How about nuclear waste, that's natural, and probably won't harm anything or anyone in your house.
