How do I quit smoking?
I'm going on vacation, leaving Sunday and I'll be gone for 2 weeks. I'm not going to bring and cigarettes with me. What is the easiest way to go about quitting smoking before then? Thanks!

This worked for me, and I hope it works for you: Try to fight every extreme craving by using redirection. I would often get so pent up and frustrated, needing a cigarette that I would run up the stairs and get myself so winded that I couldn't imagine having a cigarette. HAHA! As silly as this might sound, this really worked for me!
Try to remember that the cravings will come and go. Once you fight off one craving, you will be ok for a while until your next one. If you know they are coming, it makes it a bit simpler to fight them off. The more you over-come your cravings, the less powerful and frequent your cravings will be. If you are able to get through your first week, you made it through the worst and can definitely go the distance. Always remind yourself that cigarettes are an illusion. The reason they make you feel release and temporary calm, is because the lack of nicotine etc in your body makes you feel stressed and anxious. Once you 'take a drag' of that cigarette, your body is pacified again (for a short time). Once you fight through the cravings and get the nicotine out of your system, your body will definitely stop 'crying out' for that nicotine 'pacifier'. Again, once you get through the first week, you will be over the crest of that hill, and on your way to coasting through. Remember, when it gets tough all of the progress you have made so far, and that you wouldn't want to do anything to set you back from all the fighting you have gone through to get that nicotine out of your system. Because if you give in, the cravings will get stronger. Remind yourself that you are better than this, and you will feel happier and calmer without it, eventually. I have noticed being away from your usual routine seems to help too, so if you can make it until your vacation, you will probably have an easier time fighting through the cravings while you're away. Also, when it get's tough, dont forget to ask God for help. This really works! Sorry this is a bit lengthy. Just wanted to get my point across. Sounds like you don't want to quit smoking to me. My advice for quitting smoking: I set a quit date 6 months in advance. During those six months, I dropped one smoke per two weeks from my daily habit. By the time I reached my quit date, I was down to 1-2 smokes per day. Getting b*tchy would have been less embarrassing, but I just kept breaking down crying for next to no reason. But it was worth it. I had a flight all the way to Australia. It's a long flight but not nearly so bad for an ex-smoker than it is for a smoker.
