What do i need to apply for a car loan in a bank?

Am i going to need a downpayment when i go to the car dealership or is the bank going to pay them? What do i need to apply for the car loan at the bank? About how much are they going to borrow me? I'm looking for a nice used car under $11,000 How does it work and is it better than applying for a loan at the car dealership? Any info helps

Thank you!

Talk to a loan officer at the bank and they will tell you everything you need.

A credit union is a better idea if there is one in your area - member owned, not for profit, which means typically better rates than a bank.

At the very least, you will need ID and proof of income. They will make you fill out a credit application when you get there.

They may also require a Social Security card if there is any question about your identity or you don't have an established credit record.

Seriously... If your asking these questions...

They will probably turn you down.

You're going to have to start building up some credit first. IF you can afford it......
