teenage gynecomastia problem?

Is this normal for me?

hi, I am a boy and I have turned 16 four months ago and I have gynecomastia. I heard that this condition is normal for teenagers and this condition will dissapear shortly. but I am already 16 and I believe that I already had gynecomastia for a period of time and my "manboobs" seem to be still there. Can any professionals tell me whether this is normal or not? I am starting to get a little worried because I am not sure how long I've had it and I'm already 16. I'm worried that it might stay with me permanently. thank you very much if you can help.

First you might want to get diagnosed with gynecomastia so you know you dont have something more serious. If so its completely normal gynecomastia usually lasts for 2 to 3 years so it all depends when you started puberty. Your just a late bloomer and its not your fault. There is also other causes of gynecomastia. Some medications cause gynecomastia. But if your like most kids and me its just puberty. If your really bothered by it you should have your parents schedule an appointment with your doctor and he/she can help you out.

    I hope Ive helped.

    Good Luck

  • Chances are that they will go away once you get alittle older. And how can you be sure that it is indeed gynecomastia? Do you know your body fat percentage? If it is caused by high body fat then I suggest you start losing some of it. If it IS teenage gyne then just stay patient and it should go away.
