Laptop power problem?

My laptop doesn't charge. I think I connected my power adapter to my laptop in a wrong way. My laptop still worked, under battery mode, while my power adapter box light was blinking. I removed it, cause of some little burning smell. Then my laptop's battery depleted.

I'm sure, it's not the power adapter causing the problem as it worked with my sister's laptop. If only I have an external battery charger it MIGHT still work.

My laptop unit is a Fujitsu Esprimo Mobile V6505.

Thanks for the help!

First off burning stalls and laptops are major red flag. Anything you do from here could potentially further damage the laptop depending on the issue. Make sure your information is backed up.If you have any difficulty plugging in the power adapter to the laptop, which could include things like having to jiggle it or push it up to get it to make contact, that is to say get the green light to go on, you may have a bad power Jack. This can only be fixed by technician but there are several online power Jack companies that will do this for about $100. One thing to try is to remove your battery and see if the system still runs without the battery inside of it. Never remove the battery while the system is powered on or in hibernation state. If you get the system to stay online, go to the start menu, and type in cmd. An icon will appear in your start menu. Right click on it. you need to select the option to run as administrator. In that box, run powercfg /energy. The system will analyze your power for approximately 1 min. Finally, it will generate a log in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Copy that folder to your desktop and open it. There should be information regarding your battery and energy usage. This may help diagnose the problem.

The good news is, you may just need new battery.

Great question. Its just very hard to believe the problem is not a bad charger. When a charger is going bad they have a lot of different indications. First, their light either starts to blink or extinguish (in this case, blinking) and the charger will give off a burning smell.

Those are good indications the charger is dead. Even then, you said the battery depleted (because the charger wasn't able to charge it anymore). The charger is possible at the brink of death which is why it started working on your sisters laptop (which I would not suggest you do ever again unless you want to fry the motherboard or cause a fire with a faulty charger) and it will start to work on and off until it dies completely.

There also no such things as external battery chargers. They don't exist. Call the manufacture and you'll see what I mean. They don't exist because its like having a damaged gas tank for your car and instead of getting it fixed or repaired, you buy a separate tank in which you would attach it to the back of your car and hold gas there. It just doesn't make any sense.

Look into getting a new charger first. Trust me, you won't end up on a wild goose chase trying to figure out what that problem is and end up realizing its the one you believed wasn't the problem.

For a new charger, Topmic is by far the best website I have come across in terms of having good products with amazing service.

I've purchased from them before and they are true to their word. Free shipping with free lifetime warranty. Meaning, if the charger you purchased from them ever stops working, they would replace it for free, forever. So when the charger I got from them about a year ago decided to just stop working, they sent me a new one for free.

Its definitely a great way one can save money in the long run and its a great investment as well.

I'm pretty sure they have your charger. Just google "Topmic" and when you get to their site, enter in the charger name or laptop model.

    Good luck!

You may have unsoldered the AC jack in your laptop
