Should my thumb still be hurting me?

Three years ago I injured my left thumb. I visited with a hand surgeon and discovered that I had torn several ligaments in the area. After the MRI he told me it was a partial tear.

I'm not sure if he was right exactly because it's been so long and it still causes me pain daily, it's driving me crazy. I've researched it and the sites said partial thumb tears should be fine after about 6 weeks. Is it possible the doctor was wrong?

Hi, Yes, of course this doctor could be wrong. Many times we have had wrong/ miss-diagnosis made - they only make educated guesses no matter what & without conclusive tests, that's what it is. Maybe most partial tears do heal ok within 6 wks or so, but just maybe you are not one of the people who fell into that time frame, or, more likely, your tear was just enough more than can heal itself & you may need surgery to get it back to where it should be. Putting anything off just accelerates the situation, so go back & do a re-run on this one.

By the way, what does LSA stand for , please ?
