How do I stop a diaper from leaking so much?

We have a little guy (14 months old) visiting our home (a foster care type situation). He drinks water off and on throughout the day, but he never seems to go overboard with it. He also takes a bottle of milk (about 5-8 oz) before each nap and bedtime (three times a day). Because he's not with his family, the bottle has been a security thing for him... he doesn't want to be without it. But we are having leaky diapers every night. I was getting up to change him mid-way through his sleeping at night. That would usually help. Then some friends suggested going up a size in diapers. It didn't matter/help at all. He'll leak in the day if I wait more than 2-3 hours to change him. So going 11-12 hours (at night) is especially leaky. Last night I tried those Pamper's Extra Protection (overnight) diapers. He went from 9:30pm-5am and was soaked... clothes, diaper, bedding, etc... :( I need help! I am making sure his boy part is pointing down. I'm making sure the elastic flaps around his legs are pulled out. I'm trying everything in my power to stop the leaks. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!!!

Use a cloth diaper insert in your disposable so he is doubled up in protection. You can find them on ebay, www.squishytushy.com or babies r us.

Different diapers work for different kids. I've heard some people swear by Huggies for bedtime. If you think it's the diaper, you might want to try that. If you think the kid is peeing a lot, you might want to run it by a pediatrician. Increased urination can be a sign that something is wrong. However, sometimes little ones just pee a lot. I have a friend with a daughter that peed the bed every night until she was potty trained because she just went that much.

I had that situation a lot with my son when he was younger I found huggies were better prepared for big leakage whereas pampers just turned to kitchen paper and leaked ripped and tore making everything absolutely drenched, which is not a nice situation to deal with first thing in the morning, the best advice i can give it give huggies nappies a try and try to reduce his intake in liquids before bed e.g 2-3 hours before don't give too much liquid, the milk at night is needed I'm sure to settle them down into a restful sleep so keep that at the same level and hopefully it sorts itself out soon for you. Good Luck =)

My son had the same problem about 2 hours before bedtime I give him nothing to drink at bedtime I give him a cup of warm milk, I also get him 1 size bigger in the diapers he wears, huggies, and bb tips are what I recomend because they don't leak as much.
