what do you think about using betta fish for wedding reception center pieces?

my ideas is to add purple pebbles in the bottom because they are my colors and tie a silver bow around the top of the vase they will be in (the vase are the one for bettas that have plants growing on the top of them) and maybe flowers aroudn the base of the vase one the outside so what do yall think? like it, dislikes, love it, hate it, and new suggestions are definatly welocome

there will be many young kids at my wedding and the tables are big enought for the fish not to be reached but to be watched and i think they will enjoy them

Update:

the vases i will be puttting htem in there are made for bettas and the plans give them oxygen and feed them so obivously you hater do not know what im talking about its the same concept as having them in a fish bowl hello FISH BOWL! hints a bowl for a fish

Update 2:

the fish will be offered to the parents of the childeren who are there and i am send them with the first tube of food home iwht them and the one that are left will try to give them away to other good home if no wants them i will keep them

oh brother! you people talking about cruelty are so dramatic! this person said there will be plenty of kids there. they can take them home! people usually do games or drawings to give away really nice center pieces from parties. what's the difference between the fish sitting in a bowl at a wedding vs. at home?? they're still IN A BOWL!

i think it sounds like a great idea.

This is wrong. Where are you going to keep the fish after the wedding each fish needs a 5 gallon filtered and heated tank! Keeping them in vases is basically killing them slowly, weddings are supposed to be new beginnings not prolonged suffering which is what you will be putting the fish through. I suggest you re-think and come up with a better idea ( that means something NOT cruel to animals).

    EDIT: FISH BOWL=DEATH TRAP!

Please actually research about keeping Bettas. A bowl in NOT suitable. Fish bowl are just another cruel way that provide greedy people with more money no matter what the consequences are.

No fish is meant to live in a bowl.

    A betta requires a heated/filtered 5 gallon tank.

Not to mention..what if one of the fish dies? That's kinda gross to be sitting and staring at a dead fish while trying to eat :/

Please rethink your centerpieces. I know you really wanted to do this but a fish is a living creature, they have needs and living in a bowl (or vase which is the same thing..) isn't meeting their needs.

Why don't you do the vase with purple stones and flowers?

Or if the vases are big enough floating candles? Those are relaxing and very pretty centerpieces.

Good Luck with the big day! :]

Anything labeled "betta vase" or "betta bowl" is just a marketing scam. It makes you think that it is made just for bettas when they really need at least 5 gallons or more. Bettas are not to be used for decoration because if you took the time to properly care for them, then you would realize that each betta has its own unique personality. I would be happier if you didn't do that and put neon tetras as a centerpiece instead.

I am against it for many reasons and live Animals should not be used as a centre piece

I would have ice sculpture centre pieces i did at my wedding i had ice shaped like birds.

Edit..Don't come into this section and tell me i don't know what i am talking about what you propose to do is Animal cruelty and your ignorance is showing through.A betta does not belong in a Vase only some one who is Ignorant would think that and you know what there is no Cure for Ignorance!!!

I don't think it's a very good idea. They don't belong in bowls & if offered to the parents, are they or their kids going to know how to properly take care of them? What if nobody wants them? What then?

They shouldn't end up like Easter bunnies or chicks.

Fish or other live animals should NOT be used a decoration.

FISH BOWL + FISH = DEAD FISH!

If your going to keep them after the wedding and feed them :) it's a nice idea but fish aren't decor they are live animals so just don't flush them out lol I'm sure you planned to keep them but just left it out I don't want too scold you :) Plus you might be able to keep them in a vase thats full of flowers lol
