My Dog cut her paw...?
we think she stepped on some glass yesterday, it sliced a small piece off her pad. We have checked all her nails she didnt rip any off, there is a small chip in one, but it didnt cut to the quick. We washed it in epsom salts and then bandaged it with gauze and polysporin as was recommended by the vet, but every time she goes outside she A) pulls off the bandage, and B) the cut starts to bleed a little bit again. Kind of like when you open a healed cut on the bottom of your foot. she doesnt favour it, and she doesnt whimper when I touch or clean it (except once when I applied a little bit too much pressure I think. Is there a way to get her to leave the bandage on? or to stop the cut from re-opening? Any suggestions (other than go to the vet as this is not an option at the moment) would be greatly appreciated
We have also made sure there is nothing in the wound it was cleaned and disinfected as soon as it was noticed which was almost right away. Thanks for the awesome advice so far!!

Keep the bandage on for as long as you can. If it comes off it comes off. Let the dog deal with the wound. She will lick it and what not and it will get better. Unless the bleeding is out of control don't worry about it. Check on it once in a while. Otherwise there's not much to do. Animals can handle themselves.

keeping the bandage on is the most important thing to do. but, if she keeps going outside and taking it off or whatever don't fight it. leave it off for a couple of hours and then clean and re bandage. if bleeding is a problem and you need to make it clot and eventually stop, apply white flour to the wound. it will help the bleeding. if you want to use the flour, you cant put on a bandage until it is clotted. then you have to wipe off the excess. so, yep.

well try to keep her indoors as often as possible. maybe when she does go outside wrap the wound like usual but put a light weight sock over it so its harder to take off. I wouldn't worry to much it should heal up quickly. dogs go through a bunch of stuff. my dog had her claw almost come off and she is so hyper there is no way to keep a bandage on. just keep telling her no every time u see her rip at it.

Unwrap it now. Swelling is honestly an illustration that a wrap/bandage/splint is basically too tight. Take it off and bypass away it off. Then call your vet first element contained in the morning and get the decrease appeared at.

Take her to a vet and have it checked out or get a magnifier glass and see if there is still glass in her paw.
hop she gets better :)
