I was 6 or 7 when my Dad taught me. I'm over 30 now and have some really fond memories of our sunday afternoon chess-a-thons... I still remember beating him (just once!!!) ;-)

My son is 6 and I have started teaching him within the past year. He was the one to show interest in it as well, so why not. I would have been about that age when I started as well, so I figured it was about time.

Seems to be a good age in my book. My son has pretty much got the basic moves and we can now have a pretty good game - he seems to be pretty natural at it, he has managed to get me into a few pickles once or twice!

i don't have little ones, yet as a assessment, Gary Robson taught his son Ray the thank you to play while Ray replaced into 3 years previous. After enjoying tremendously much on a regular basis for an entire twelve months, Ray, at 4 years previous, ultimately gained a pastime against his Dad. Ray is at the instant the youngest grandmaster contained in america. He earned the tile in January of 2010, while he replaced into only 15 years previous. Any age is a sturdy age. each and every newborn could comprehend the thank you to play. they are able to then pick for themselves if it is a few thing they choose to pursue or no longer.

My dad taught me how to play when I was seven. Just like your daughter, I begged my dad to teach me. We still play sometimes.

I plan on teaching my children chess around the same age, although they have to have the patience for it. :)

It's not really in the list of things you must teach your child. It's like saying "when did you teach your child how to play Uno?"
