CNA training and i dont quite get it what is the correct way to measure urinary output?

i am doing my State boards exam in a few days and am not to sure of how exactly to measure output? can some one help me out? during the exam i will have to do bed pan and measure the output please explane

    If the patient is catheterised [catheterized, if you are, in fact, one of my American cousins] you'll find measurements on the side of the bag. If the patient is not catheterised, you simply measure the amount of fluids output by emptying bedpans or commodes into a measuring jug. Obviously, if the patient is ambulant you need to inform him/her that you need to keep track of their fluid output and provide them with a measuring jug to urinate into.

    Usually on the inside of the bed pan there will be measurements in cc's...most urine containers only hold up to 2000cc. If not, pour it into a urinal and measure it.
