UK to France passport question?

I am going to France on friday until sunday, but I was just wondering whether I'd need my passport or not. We are going by coach (and I guess the coach will then go on a ferry). Also, if I do need one, is there anything they'd accept as an alternative to a passport?

Thanks for your answers.

If you are British, Danish, Irish, Latvian, or any non-EU citizen you will need your passport in order to travel, no alternative. Driving licences are not accepted as travel documents. If you hold any other EU citizenship you can use your national ID card to travel between EU countries.

You need your passport. The UK does not operate a national ID scheme, so your passport is the only document you can use to travel within the EU.

I even have at the instant traveled to France with basically 3 days to spare from the day I got here back into uk. as long as you're returning to uk by the day till now your passport expires, you're solid to flow. 6 months allowance is generally required in case you're traveling to the U. S..
