WIll I risk my US citizenship by applying for a dual Filipino Citizenship?

Question

I was born in the US in 1987 and am 23 years old. My father American and my mother Filipino. However, I've never held Filipino citizenship and would like to have dual citizenship with both countries. I want to be sure that I wouldn't risk losing my US citizenship.

The concept of dual citizenship means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time. Dual nationality laws and policies depend on each country. The U.S. Government recognizes that dual citizenship exists, but does not endorse it as a matter of policy because of the problems that it may cause.

in case your mum and dad are both Filipinos, then you actually are a Filipino citizen. in case you've been born in the U. S., yet have Filipino mum and dad, you also grow to be an American citizen. once you attain the criminal age (18) you'd be requested to make your concepts up on which citizenship to maintain, that of being a Filipino, or American.
