Why do animals hate random people?
I was taking my uncle's dog for a walk and came across two women, one the dog liked, the other...not so much. He automatically went into submissive mode, and hid behind me and my little cousin. The woman commented how animals have never liked her.
One of my close friends hasn't any luck with animals either, whether they were her parents pets, or just random animals she met. She's been attacked, bitten, snarled, hissed, or avoided altogether.
Is there any explanation as to why some people are just naturally disliked by animals?

My personal opinion is that animals use many clues to find the nature of a person, scent, body language, mannerisms. I think they can sense a person that is unkind, or even dislikes animals, and would show this nervous behaviour.
I think they are smarter than we give them credit for, and I've always been watchful of a person that my animals are hesitant with. They would protect me with their lives, and they have a reason, even if I don't not understand what their reasons are. I will trust them long before I would be trustful of a stranger.
