US Army or US Navy MOS?

When I graduate High School I want to enlist into the military. I can not decide which branch and MOS to do. By the way I want to become a police officer after the military.

The Army MOS that I was looking at was 19D Cavalry Scout. I just like the history and what they do as a whole. Not to mention the kind of fire power that they have. Not really interested in Infantry. I want a job that isn't just sitting in front of a computer.

The Navy MOS that I was looking at was Master at Arms. Honestly, this is really the only rate that I like in the Navy and I am guaranteed it in my contract because thats the only rate in the security field. The only other rate that I would want is Aviation Ordnanceman and its in a field with 10 other rates. Master at Arms I like because it has to do with law enforcement and it is a much more involved job compared to others. More weapons oriented?

Which job would you prefer?

Which training has more difficult training?

Which branch would you just join in general?

Which would be better for a future law enforcement career?

Which is more difficult to get into?

The ARMY is the place to go man. Army has better perks and stuff for you.

    1. Freedom to chose your job- Once you take your ASVAB, you'll go to the Military Entrance and Processing Station. There you will sit with a counselor and they will ask you what kind of job you would like. They'll look through the list of available jobs and tell you what's available. (by the way the Army has a more wide variety of jobs than any other branch) You pick a job, sign for it and bam. There. It's yours. GUARANTEED. Only you can change your job.

Since you want a combat job, it wont be hard for you to get one. Infantry and Cavalry are always available choices. Plus they also have the Military Police You can also go to airborne school to jump out of planes. and if you want to be really hardcore you can go for Rangers.

    2. Money- You like money right? The Army has more people. Why? More people want to be in the Army. So the Army needs more and more Sergeants. The Army has the FASTEST promotion rate. So you will rise through the ranks faster than the other branches. Also the Army gives you a chance to earn up to 2 promotions BEFORE you leave to Basic Training. With more rank comes more pay(:

3.Opportunities- You will have more opportunities in the Army to do very cool stuff. They have a variety of different school that you can go to. Airborne School, Army combatives school, Ranger School. Just to name a few. and just so you know. some of the best Marines go to the Army for training. As a matter of fact ALL branches send people to the Army for training.

I would say that the Cavalry Scouts have more difficult training, but hey it all goes with being hardcore.

The Army is the BIGGEST and oldest branch. They have the most jobs. The more choices. Trust me. The Army is where you want to be

You have to join whatever branch you think suits you most. As far as helping you get a police officer job is concerned, any branch and any job is fine. Being a veteran is what can help you get a police officer job. Veterans get extra points on civil service tests. Some police departments that require applicants to have college will waive some or all of their college requirements for veterans. Also, some people simply like to hire qualified veterans whenever they can. Have you considered joining the Coast Guard? Be sure to get a college degree too. Getting a college degree is one of the best things that you can do if you want to become a police officer. Get it before, during, or after the military. Best of luck!

being an MA will NOT help you get into any police department whatsoever. in fact it may hurt as it is NOT law enforcement at all, it is force protection. GMs are the small weapons types.

getting MA in a contract may not even be possible at all. you are only offered a rating that you qualify for and that they NEED/ and currently.. MA is overmanned.

there is NO specific MOS or rating that will be more useful in getting a LEO job afterward. ANY one will do.. it is the military service part that counts, not the specific job.

in the navy you dont get guaranteed by field, its by job the only branch that guarantees by field is the Marines. and BTW the CREO list doesnt look to friendly towards MA, if you cant get MA and want to work with weapons, try for GM.
