The Holocaust, is it open for debate or not?"?

Why is it a crime to even question the Holocaust events?

Update:

To Go AZ: That's what I always thought, but it seems not all who question the Holocaust history are fringe or racist elements. Thus my question.

You may question the truth if you wish, but do not cry "foul" when you are labeled an idiot.

It is NOT a crime to question the Holocaust events. Stupidity is not a crime.

In SOME countries it is illegal to (This is Germany`s law on the matter)

    (1) Whoever, in a manner that is capable of disturbing the public peace:

1.incites hatred against segments of the population or calls for violent or arbitrary measures against them; or

2.assaults the human dignity of others by insulting, maliciously maligning, or defaming segments of the population,

shall be punished with imprisonment from three months to five years.

    (...)

    (3) Whoever publicly or in a meeting approves of, denies or belittles an act committed under the rule of National Socialism of the type indicated in Section 6 subsection (1) of the Code of Crimes against International Law, in a manner capable of disturbing the public peace shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than five years or a fine.

    (4) Whoever publicly or in a meeting disturbs the public peace in a manner that assaults the human dignity of the victims by approving of, denying or rendering harmless the violent and arbitrary National Socialist rule shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.

    § 130 Public Incitement (1985, Revised 1992, 2002, 2005)

To put that in Normal Speech. If you make a prat of yourself by standing up in public and denying the Holocaust in a manner which may lead others to want to beat you, then you can be arrested.

You can believe what you want, you can debate in it private, Just don`t stand in public and proclaim that the Jews were never killed because people may beat the C**P out of you.

In the UK it is not illegal to deny the Holocaust. You can stand in the Middle of Hyde Park Corner and claim that the whole thing is a Jewish conspiracy, just don`t be surprised if I, and many others, call you a C**t.

As a final thought. Cue the Lies your teachet taught you claiming that the Holocaust did not happen.

Go read his blogs. (they are put there by himself that's why he changed his name on here from Kaps so people don`t notice) They are good for a laugh.

Most people who want to debate the reality of the Holocaust seem to be 'White Supremacists", anti-Semites, Neo-Nazis, or pro-Palestinians.

    Why debate with fringe elements?

Aside from personal statements from those who experienced it, photos and other evidence, it was also the subject of war trials. That seems pretty conclusive to anyone rational. I disagree with your statement that "they" are not all "fringe".
