"Holy grail" products for dogs? What are yours?
Do you have any "holy grail" products that you always have on hand for your dog(s)? Mine is definitely Hydrocortisone cream. It's amazing! It "relieves itching associated with minor skin irritations and rashes" and it works so good and so fast. Whenever my dog starts chewing, I put it on the spot, and within 12 hours it's completely gone. My dog was chewing the other day, and I put this cream on at night. By the next morning it was all gone, and his chewing stopped. If you don't have this cream, I would highly recommend it!

Rosalie: Thank you for your concern. I have talked to my vet about it and he said it was nothing but a minor skin irritation, and he recommended this cream to me. If someone else were thinking about using this cream, I would definitely recommend talking to your vet first.

Betadine Solution for wounds is a must have in every dog's medicine cabinet. I see so many people saying to clean wounds with Peroxide. That is WRONG! Peroxide should not be used on puncture wounds or serious lacerations. The Betadine Solution can also be diluted.
Add: I also could not be without a cordless rechargeable Dremel tool for nails. I HATE clippers.
Add#2: I just thought of something else that all dog owners should have since I always see questions about how to stop the bleeding when a nail is cut too short.......Kwik Stop.

Zymox Otic Enzymatic Solution with Hydrocortisone
An over the counter ear infection treatment that has saved me countless trips to the vet and thousands of dollars over the years.
That and "buffered aspirin", liver flavor, for when my last guy got too old, in the end there, my vet would only give me 30 or 60 day supplies and make me bring him in for a check up because of how harsh the rimadyl was supposed to be and so he could "monitor him", once I switched over to the buffered aspirin, again, saved me what I calculate to be as thousands and not to mention the time of bringing him in.

Betadine for sure.
Hibitaine as well for me - I use it on my horses and my dog. Great for cuts and fungal infections.
Vet wrap and gauze pads.
I think I'm going to start keeping Witch Hazel at home too.
I use corn starch to clot bleeding from cuts on the ears or broken nails.

That's great if it's an allergy or a bug bite - but I would want to know the underlying cause of the itch.
In addition, you need to make sure there isn't a coexistent infection, or in fact cortisone can help it spread.
Anyway, products I keep around -
Zymox Otic, with and without the cortisone
Skunk-Off
Gentle Leaders
Chuck-It Jr.
Matbreaker
Furminator
The Stuff detangler
Brake-fast bowl
Content-Um
Dawn dish detergent (we like green apple)
Nylabone Galileos
Kong Classics
MuttLuks
Handsome Hound jackets
...just to name a few :-3
