    Technically they are Irish as they have been until the meddling British (yes as usual) came in there and decided to destroy the harmony that once existed. One side had enough and split (smart ones) and the other side were sweet talked or bribed into staying with the union i.e. British empire

    ethnically many are, some are of Scottish and English descent, however they are citizens of the UK not Ireland.
