My first job?... Probably?

I made my first-ever resume, which my friend took and said that she can help me write a cover letter. Which she did and said that she would look around to find any job that would fit my resume. Funnily enough she did.

So she said she hooked me up a spot in a VideoEzy store around Brisbane which all I have to do now is go in and ask; and it is casual. I haven't asked yet because I've never had the opportunities to get jobs, nor have I ever had one because of my parents (I'm 17). So no job experience ever on my part. I heard that employees at Maccas get good pay but I doubt it. I have no idea about supermarkets though or how they do in terms of pay.

The thing that bother's me is that the position is casual and pays 12~/hr as a cashier. So me, without any prior job experience, it sounds too good to be true. Is it? I mean, it's casual. Really? I've heard that if you're casual, managers can lessen your hours if need be because you don't have a fixed schedule like part-time and that. Plus my friend said that I can't get the part-time one because their for 18+ only in that store.

------>Is this worth pursuing as a first job?<-----

PS Just say if you need more info.

===================

I'm also kind-of desperate too for I want to buy my own things without reliance of parents (lol). And because of schoolies too, for I want to make it a memorable last school year (who doesn't?).

    Yes you must go for this job. It is always very hard to get a first job, and even if they cut your hours, you are still making some money, and you can then always try for a permanent job.

    The wage sounds about right for a cashier. Ignore what your friend says about you needing to be 18, and go for the job, the worst thing they can say, is reapply when you are 18, but who knows they might take you on.
