Tattoo Shop Owners how much do you expect?

I will be getting my first tattoo next month. I am wondering how much (percentage) should I tip the artist, who is also the owner of the shop. I normally would tip a non-owner between 15 and 20%. But does an owner expect the same? I think (probably wrong) that the owner builds in what they expect for a piece.

Tip the amount you think the work deserves. If you think the tattoo is adequate then do not tip. If the tattoo is better than you expected tip 10 to 20% and if the tattoo is amazing beyond belief then tip them as much as you can afford. Tipping should be a reward for performing above expectations not a voluntary tax for consumers.

I have not tipped for a couple of my tattoos. I once tipped $80 on a $120 tattoo because I thought that the tattoo was worth $200.

I read somewhere once that they much rather see a genuine expression of love for their work then some bs tip. But yeah I believe 20% is about right...
