Does David Tyree really represent the viewpoint of Christians in America?

Today, New York Giants football player David Tyree said he would trade the catch he made in 2007 that helped the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl to prevent gays from being able to marry. This because he believes God let him make the catch in order, four years later, to have a platform to use to oppose gay marriage.

Is he for real? Does this represent the position of Christians in America?

Interesting answers below. I suppose the one person is right in saying if one is truly a Christian, then no matter what he/she has to denounce homosexuality if that is what he truly believes in. But I have to say I find it truly repulsive that David Tyree makes a point to say he would trade a catch to prevent same sex marriage. What is the point? He can't trade that catch. A bunch of smoke and mirrors. Sort of like Christianity in general. If he really believes gay marriage is wrong, then how about he trades his MONEY? Purchase billboards all over the US denouncing gay marriage. Take out ads in newspapers. Purchase TV ad spots. Come on Tyree....you loser. Promise something you can control.

The really ironic fact is that Jefferson and Madison had a hard time getting the First Amendment passed and wouldn't have been able to without the help of the Evangelicals of the time. They were afraid the Government would take control of their religion. Hey - the word "Amen" is in the word "Amendment" weird. Must be a conspiracy. Go figure. P.S. - look it up. I just thought of that Amen thing right now though. Starting to bug me. OMG - Quakers and Puritans were Christians! So were all the Catholics that got hung in the public square. I really hope that Protestant doesn't mean you protested going to school. I live in Bordentown and work in Philadelphia - the two hometowns of Tom Paine. Please read "Common Sense" and "The Rights of Man" and tell me that this was not supposed to be a democracy - (oh, I forgot the Constitution spells out how representative government "democracy" is supposed to work.)

Yes and no, I say this b/c most christians in the U.S. do not support gay marriage, however most of us also would not go to such drastic measures to see that it does not happen.

Unfortunately, it represents the mentality of a hefty portion of christians in the US. Not all, not even most, but quite a vocal percentage think they have a magical line to their deity by which they can impose their theocratic, anti-gay agenda upon the rest of the country.

Any bible believing Christian will not vote for gays to marry.

About trading touchdown passes, etc., I can't say. However, I'm impressed with the man's boldness. So few are willing to stand on God's word.

Anyway you look at it, study it, or try to justify it, homosexuality is a sin.. Sorry but it is and there is no way a Christian can accept sin, we don't judge it, we just can't accept it in our lives as it is truly offensive to God.
