Rich/celebrities v. ordinary/poor people - how do you feel and react?
Yahoo! has like other news agencies loads of info on the high and mighty in society, i.e. those with lots of money to spend on (for normal people) stupid things, telling us what they're up to etc. Doesn't it irritate you that so much attention is spent on them while MOST people can't even afford what these well-off people have access to because of their money? Should we perhaps have more info on how "normal" people live their lives, make ends meet etc, rather than be faced with what we just can't expect to achieve? I try to cope with life as it is thrown at me, but I really don't want to have my nose rubbed in it!

I care nothing for these people. I do more good in a single day than these rich, vacuous, superficial people will do in a lifetime. I pity them. I'm a senior prison officer who loves my job and I've saved many lives in twenty years and helped people get back on the straight and narrow. I run social skills classes at work and just wish that more of my colleagues had the skills to run them so that we could help more prisoners escape the revolving prison door. Learning social skills really helps prisoners stay polite and calm in stressful situations (like job interviews) and people that complete my course are three times less likely to re-offend. The cost? Nothing. I do it for free!

I think most people spent so much attention to it because the luxury lives of those celebs are much more interesting than their own. I think people look up to celebs because of their popularity and money, and would like to know what those 'sort of people' get up to in their day to day live. I think if you put stories of 'normal' people in every single magazine, you will get bored pretty quickly. People like to read about scandals, incredibly powerful people or judge what people wear. At least, those seem to be the 'interesting' stories.
It's just your attitude towards it I guess. I wouldn't see it as them rubbing their luxury in your face. You will always have the difference of the 'rich' and the 'poor'. I love my live the way it is, and I don't envy the rich/celebs in the slightest. Would I like to spend 2 hours every morning for people to do my make up, just so I can go out of the door to buy a cup of coffee, would I like to have people around me 24/7 taking pictures of me drinking a cocktail with my mates, would I like to have my private life in every single magazine and all over the internet, would I like to have every blunder published of myself? No thank you very much. Appreciate what you have, every life has it's ups and it's downs, the grass might look greener sometimes, but trust me, you don't want to swap with any of the rich or the famous!

Not really, I don't give a crap about what some data entry clerk in North Dakota is up to right now. If I'm curious about what regular people are up to on any given day, I will peruse Facebook.
Then again, I also rarely give a crap about what any given celebrity is up to.
