Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, was very interested in encouraging industry, new technology etc. He was one of the main promoters of the Great exhibition of 1851, which put on show all the new inventions and technological developments that seemed very exciting and innovative. the Queen herself may not have had much of personal interest in such things, but she was very eager to support Albert. Their joint interest was important in encouraging new developments.
