1995 toyota 4 runner review and reliability?
a buddy of mine wants to sell me his 95 4 runner, it has 205k miles on it and a small oil leak (that he doesnt know where its coming from) my question is... are these good vehicles? how long do the engines last? (i had a jeep that went to 280k miles before it crapped out) i love toyota and i like the look of it but i would hate to buy it just to have it die on me a few months down the road....
he wants $2100 for it.
any and all info will be greatly appreciated!

can't comment on price. verify the oil leak first. that's the same as buying it with an unkown water leak. even if it didn't over heat. and you wouldn't/shouldn't do that.
4x2/4x4?
in general, both the 22R/RE I4 and the V6 3VZE can get 300+. easily if maintained. both engines are non-interference type and don't require t-belt *replacement* unless it's had a life of towing and short cold runs.
the 22 engine is lighter, lower center of gravity, and can do anything off road the V6 can. but they have trouble maintaining hwy speeds due to it's long stroke.
V6 can pull a 20ft boat and trailer at hwy speeds. I4 can't.
it's been said they have the best 4x4 gear in the OEM business. AISIN. spensive.neither engine will get you much better than 17/25mpg 4x4, a few more for 4x2's. +-..

"are these good vehicles?"
If you buy a good one, sure.
If you don't, nope.
"how long do the engines last?"
As long as you maintain them. No different than any other engine.
"would hate to buy it just to have it die on me a few months down the road"
That would be because you didn't properly maintain it. Don't blame the vehicle for you not taking care of it.
