Is it possible to manipulate the half-lives of radioactive isotopes by way of geochemical engineering?

Im wondering if its possible to accelarate the process in which Uranium and other radioactive elements break down, making them safer for future generations to handle.

Half life only depends upon the rate of disintegration.

One cannot alter the rate of disintegration since it is a spontaneous process

There is no known process by which this could occur.
