Do you find the Duggar family to be a bit creepy?

You never see them arguing or fighting. The parents are always calm with the kids. I feel sorry for the older ones, I mean some are already 20 and are still around their parents constantly. They seem really nice and the kids are well behaved but at the same time they come off as creepy

In life, we try to put forth our best selves to the world, be it on an outing, grocery shopping or anywhere else the public may view us. It is easier to manage our composure when we feel that someone is looking over our shoulders.

That is exactly what the Duggar family does, they are putting on their "Sunday Clothes" for the public. It's no creepier than any other family doing the same when they pop out to eat. It doesn't mean they don't have their off days, they just have to work harder at keeping those off days private.

No. I think a lot of people have misconceptions about them. They're Christians trying to do right by the Lord. They're not the only family who has 19 kids, and they're not the only family who has adult children still living with them. Never fighting/arguing and being calm w/ their kids is a great thing, why do you act like it's wrong? Have some respect.

Not at all. I'm sure they have their moments where there are arguments and hollering, especially among the small children. Everyone has them. They are no exception.

I don't feel sorry for the older kids. This is how their family operates and it works for them. What I think is sad is all the people who bash them so unfairly when this family obviously loves each other and they are a well functioning family with amazing faith. I really really admire their faith in the Lord.

I'd love to meet them in person. I couldn't raise 19 children, but I do greatly admire Mr. and Mrs. Duggar for their ability to.

Their family is actually the reason I decided to have kids. I felt like I couldn't be in control of how my kids were brought up seeing how so many other kids act. I do parent my kids like they do, and while I don't do everything like that I am really enjoying how my kids are raised, and I am confident I will not have a pregnant teen. I don't find them creepy in the slightest bit. The parents are very open minded about situations, and they teach there kids to believe in something, which in turn makes the kids believe in themselves, creating less conflict. They believe that you shouldn't be out of your parents home until marriage, and I feel the same way. Besides, they grew up as a big family, they are used to that and having alone time is just uncomfortable for them. To me being 20 and still hanging out with my parents/brothers/sisters would be a lot more fun then living away from them.

    Creepy, yes. Well intentioned, yes.

I believe that they're always calm with the kids because they're (1) all partially brainwashed just enough and (2) the older kids are the ones managing the younger ones. There's just a bit too much mindless obedience there to make me comfortable.

  • Out of what they actually show, they probably edit out all of the fighting, because nobody wants to watch little kids have temper tantrums.

She seems abused and he freaks me out. The kids are all very polite and well spoken. But, yes, I do find them creepy.

I feel sorry for the older girls a bit. They seem to be trapped taking care of all their siblings until they marry and can leave the nest. I believe that families should work to take care of each other, but Mrs. Duggar really doesn’t have to do the primary child care for the majority of those children. Their daughters, young ladies, appear to do so for her.

My wife and kids and I don't really argue or fight..... we disagree but it never turns into a fight. I hate when people say all couples fight because it just isn't true. Plus the mom of that family gets to pick what goes in so she might not let fighting go into the show.

To my understanding those older ones have jobs, again you are just seeing what the mom puts in.

I don't agree with some of their views, like courting no dancing no birth control and no pants for girls, but I am not about to bash them because they live differently from me.

No, they are catholic and don't believe in birth control which explain the amount of kids. But i mean they are just an overall great family that behaves and listens. My kids don't argue or fight but when you have so many even if you don't get along with one you just get away from them and go to another sibling, i think it's great how they are raised and i would love to meet them some day!
