liquid cooling vs. air cooling lifetime?

im getting a gaming computer and chances are it's going to be on for a VERY long time i want it cool but functional for many years so should i get a nice high end air cooler for my cpu which is an amd phenom II 955 BE it will be overclocked by 5-10% and a standard fan on the radeon 6950 or should i get both CPU and GPU liquid cooled with 2 120mm fans i dont care at all about noise i just want i cool system that looks nice

I would stick with air cooling. You will only be doing mild overclocking and not really pushing that processor to the max. Water cooling is high maintenance and the return wouldn't be justified in your situation. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... support your AM3 CPU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Sub... are some more options for you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... is a SELF CONTAINED water cooling option for you. While other higher end water cooler need special liquids and additives and regular coolant changes other other maintenance The H70 is self contained and maintenance free. My CPU is hovering between 31 and 34 wile I listen to music and answer some questions on here and doesn't exceed 41 when gaming. I chose the V8 for my needs. Your choice of course will also be dictated by the available real estate in your case. I have the Azza 2000R with a total of 13 fans, including the V8, PSU and GPU fans, so I had plenty of room and could install pretty much anything including a 360 mm water cooling radiator inside the case.

Heat is a problem for an engine. Liquid cooling deals with this problem much better than air cooling but adds complexity and weight and cost. But not only is engine life extended, a liquid cooled engine is quieter, and most importantly liquid cooling allows engineering upgrades that would cause destructive heat problems for an air-cooled engine, these upgrades greatly add to the horsepower and overall performance of an engine. I can't think of a 4-cylinder air cooled motorcycle. And some two cylinder air cooled engines have problems with overheating, like the Buel. Everything being equal, a liquid cooled engine is going to last longer. But maintenance and the kind of riding can also be a huge factor in engine life, so a badly maintained, hard ridden water cooled could easily only have 1/3 the life of a well maintained conscientiously ridden air-cooled.
