It's a further "slap in the face" to American know how. Typical of it being done in San FranSICKO. The Liberal bastion of American.

Sadly, there are several reasons why this happened.
At the heart of it is outsourcing.
American firms are outsourcing as much as possible in order to save a buck.
The outsourcing of of steel industry services has been going on for decades now.
Most American steel mills have been pared down to a fraction of their former capacity.
It's now at the point where I don't believe there is a single American foundry left that is equipped to handle such a job.
If you think libby/lefty policies are solely to blame for this, think again.
Union deals aside, skilled American labor is relatively expensive when compared to the labor rates of third-world countries.
And, for decades, real estate development interests have been pressing their suppliers for cheaper and cheaper goods. Relaxing restrictions on importing goods allowed companies to import steel from India and China.
Diminished demand for local goods led to the decline (and practical demise) of our local steel industry.
Industry trends led to catering more and more to shareholders looking to turn higher profits in a quicker turnaround. In doing so, they essentially sold off the viability of their own industries, screwing over future generations in exchange for their short term profits.
So, what you have here are:
Free market connies looking for cheaper resources.
While union labor libbies fought for larger and larger benefits packages.
Together, they pushed their own industries overseas.
Though, in the end, the workers are out of work.
And, the shareholders have moved on to chopping apart other viable businesses.

I think I am going to vomit!
As if I didn't have enough reasons to hate California already. This is indeed a further slap in the face, to America period!

I don't think that anyone should try to have it both ways.
Either complain about taxes like any good conservative, or be happy to see American taxpayers being saved hundreds of millions of dollars.
Are lower taxes good or bad? You should be able to make up your mind.
