Rib tattoo too painful for first one?

Hey everyone, I have a few questions about rib tattoos....

So here's the story I planned on getting it on my ring finger, but I realized I want it bigger, so I decided on my right ribs/underneath my breast, mainly because I'd be able to enjoy it and I won't be visible for work and professional events since I'd like to be a surgeon, anywhere majorly visible is out of the question.

So about the tattoo, it's going to say 'born this way' mainly because Lady Gaga taught me that this is who I am, and I need to love myself because I was 'born this way.' I was in a really bad place, I was cutting, I was unstable, but she spoke to me. I just want you all to try and understand what the record and Lady Gaga have done, how much they have really helped me, how dark of a place they pulled me from.

My questions include: How long will it take? How much do you think it'll cost? What kind of font should I get (script or just plain letters)? How much wil it hurt, 1 to 10, 1 being pinched, 10 being childbirth? How long do tattoos need to be covered after you get them? Will one in this position fade?

Thank you!!!

And haters, y'all can hate, just not here. AND my decision is not automatically what is said on here

Depending on how big and if you want color.. it could take an hour(ish) and it'll prob be around $100 if not more. I would do a script.. that always turns out really good on girls. Honestly.. I wouldn't suggest getting that as your first tattoo. You should do your ankle or wrists or some where else so that you can get an idea on your pain tolerance or if you don't want to sit there for hours while someone is tattooing you. They usually are only covered for the first day and then you put ointment over the tattoo frequently till it heals and it will def be sore for a little while after the tattoo.

    Best of luck!

In truth everyone is different and the old chestnut about bony areas hurting more might not be true for you. I had little or no pain on my ribs (bird underneath my breasts around 9 inches long and 3 inches deep) nor my back including spine and shoulder, stomach feet and arms all OK too but I have wings wrapping around my waist and the fleshy parts I found more uncomfortable but I was advised this isn't the norm, I;ve come to the conclusion after many years that there is no norm. I've met plenty of people whose pain tolerance varies widely dependant on the placement of the art but if it helps you feel a bit better the ribs were probably about 4/10 for pain. Also don't forget feet have a lot of nerve endings like the hands and this adds to the sensation experienced for some. Re the image chosedn just get what you want and never mind the doubters, it's your body and you'll be the person taking it to the grave.

Your asking about a tattoo. You don't need to give us your life story and the reason behind your tattoo. no 1 cares

-Depending on the size is how long it will take

-depending on where you go will determine the price, popular prestigious artist will & can over price, some artist charge by time it takes or color or detail

-the font is your preference, I'd say not just plain print

-speaking on levels of pain; it's different for everyone. it won't feel good, I can tell you that much

    - covered for the first 4 hours, you can cover it the night you sleep so it doesn't stick to your sheets

-all tattoos will fade, tanning & not properly caring for it will make it fade faster

  • "how long will it take"- it depends on the size and if you gett it colored and how elaborate the designe is.

how much will it cost?- i heard no tattoo is under 50 dollars. and it depends how big it is.

how much will it hurt. - usually on places where there is less fat is the worst pain. and if its on a bone it will hurt alot.also it will feel like you have sunburn the day after you get it.

how long does it have to be covered- fourty five minutes. after that theyll tell you to wash it with anti bacterial soap and then rub ointment on it.

will it fade- all tattoos fade after you get them. but when its completely healed it wont anymore. you must not pick at it or peal at it or yes it will fade bc it is healing.

first, give some thought into your tattoo?

if after really thinking about it, then get it.

the ribs will hurt badly but it is better than getting it on your finger. mainly because you can hide it for work like you said.

i would recommend you go to your tattoo place and get an estimate. they should be able to explain the pain, healing process, and cost for you:)

    good luck:)

btw i like your tattoo idea:)

  • well i dont really know the answer to any of those questions but i figured i'd throw some info in, that the most painful places to get tattooed are ribs, wrist, and chest. i think chest is the most painful.
