For those that argue for Obama's Libya defense for not needing Congressional approval....?

how is a calling a nuclear strike different than drone attacks with the argument that since we are not landing any troops there we don't need Congressional approval...which also means over sight?

Can Obama's argument be used to launch a nuclear strike without any approval or oversight, why or why not?

No. No president can launch a nuclear strike without oversight. The system was designed to prevent just that. Nuclear protocol requires at least two people to confirm a launch order.

Yes, the President does not need Congressional approval to authorize the launch of nuclear weapons, nor has he ever. That would make no sense and defeat the whole purpose of even having them.

Of course he can launch a nuclear strike without approval. He can do whatever he likes for 60 days.

War Powers Resolution act says he doesn't need congress approval for such a small operation. Blame that bill if you don't like what's going on in Libya.

from what i heard they will be landing troops very soon so there goes that argument .. Obama thinks he is God and can do anything he wants these days .. time to take that little dictator down and impeach his rear end to the wall imo ..
