Southern Style green bean salad to go with brisket ideas, please...?
There's so many ideas, so I'd like to hear from the southern part of the country on this one. My sister is smoking a brisket for a party and I'm to bring the green bean salad. Let's hear your best, or easiest, or favorite recipe so I can make it for the party! Thanks, ...y'all are the best!

Oh ya 3 been salad. Arkansas here. that would go really well with brisket! You must make this the day before or even better 2 or 3 days ahead to marinate for best flavor :)
Makes about 8 servings
1 (8-ounce) can garbanzo or lima beans
1 (8-ounce) can cut green beans
1 (8-ounce) can red kidney beans
1 medium red onion, sliced and separated into rings
1/2 cup chopped green pepper(bell pepper)
2/3 cup vinegar
1/2 cup salad oil
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
Drain canned beans. In large bowl combine lima beans, green beans, red kidney beans, onion rings and green; pepper. Whisk together vinegar, vegetable oil, sugar, and celery seed. Pour vinegar mixture over vegetables and toss lightly. Cover and refrigerate for eight hours or overnight, stirring occasionally. Drain before serving.

Then there is the slow country style which you could use canned or fresh. I'd use
3 cans of good brand like delmonte green giant etc. cut green beans(drained)
6 strips of bacon fried till just before crisp(save a couple T of the bacon grease to season with)
1 red or yellow onion diced
small red potatoes about 10 or large potatoes quartered or (in large chunks)
salt
pepper
1 T sugar
1 t garlic powder or 2 cloves of fresh garlic chopped not crushed
You can peel the potatoes or just scrub the peelings and leave them on when cooking.
Fry the bacon(not real crisp), let cool and crumble, leave a couple T of bacon grease in the pot, add potatoes cover with cold water.
Bring to a boil, reduce to low simmer, skim off any of the white foam that rises. Add the onion, salt, pepper, garlic, sugar, and drained beans. Cover with the lid slightly off. Simmer for an hour & 15 min. Let them cool about 45 min so the potatoes will set before serving. Enjoy :)
