I am the wedding coordinator at my church. I would estimate that 85% of the women guests wear black dresses to the wedding ceremony.

traditionally, black could no longer be worn to a wedding ceremony. however, circumstances have replaced and that isn't any longer the guideline for all weddings. I skinny your merely right guess is to the contact the bride or someone on the point of her and ask what their thoughts are about wearing a black gown to the marriage. some everybody is offended with the help of it and others couldn't care a lot less. in my view, I have not worn a strong black gown to a wedding ceremony yet I have worn black and white print clothing that are white or off-white with a black print, or vice versa. i might want to assert ask to be sure.

Black is a chic and classic choice for a wedding. As long as your dress doesn't look like something you'd wear out to a club, you're in good shape :)

I think it's silly to say people shouldn't wear black to a wedding, weddings are usually formal occasions, and black is a very formal color. I had no problem with any guests who wore black to my wedding. Then again, I wouldn't have had a problem with someone wearing a white dress either, as long as it wasn't a wedding gown :)
Wear your black dress, it sounds lovely.

General rule is you wear the colors that go with the season, so a black dress at a summer wedding may not seem appropriate. And it's not usually accepted to wear something so stunning as to show up the bride and her gown.

For a late afternoon or into the evening wedding reception, this dress is perfect. Do not second guess yourself.
What used to be reserved for funerals, black is chic for a wedding. And, guess what? People are now wearing pretty prints and floral attire to funerals because they want to celebrate the deceased person's life.
Have a great time.
