PhD in Marketing after MBA?
I am currently doing MBA in Marketing from Birmingham City University, United Kingdom. My course is going to end in March, 2012 and after that I am planning to do PhD in Marketing from a reputed Management School in USA (e.g. Kelloggs School, NYU and others).
Can anyone tell me that do the marks of all the TERMS carry any relevance to apply or just the PROPOSAL for PhD is considered?

For a PhD from a US business school, they care about your grades, your test scores (GMAT, although some schools take GRE as well), and letters of recommendation for admission. Most new business PhD students (in my experience none) have a dissertation topic picked out and the application process doesn't require you to have a topic. From what I've seen, at UK business schools one must propose a dissertation topic first to be admitted to a PhD program, but that is definitely not the case for US business schools. As far as marketing specifics go, I'm certainly no expert, but there are a few guys doing their marketing PhD's at Kellogg who might be able to answer some questions on the TestMagic business PhD forums: http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-business/ Good luck!

In most US schools that grant PhD's there is a committee that evaluates your marks in the UK and will to see how it would equivilate to the US. That takes some time so be sure to apply early. There are also some fees involved; many schools contract this evaluation out to a private firm.
You need to check with the Graduate Office and perhaps the Foreign Students office of the universities you are interested in.
Good luck!
