How would you pronounce Marlena?

Just because the people I know with that name pronounce it Mar-Lay-nah that is how I would say it. Mar-lee-na is pretty, I think you could pronounce it either way. I like the name but be warned that a lot of people will get confused on how to say it.

I think it's lovely. I feel it could be pronounced both ways. If it were pronounced Mar-lee-nah, Marlee, Mara, and Lena (lee-na) would be adorable nicknames! If it were pronounced Mar-lay-nah, Mara and Lena (lay-nuh) would work! I like both a lot, but I think I prefer Mar-lee-nah best. It's classy, feminine, and unique without being odd or over the top.

My aunt's name is Marlene. It's Mar-leen. Not Mar-layn. So I think Marlena would be pronounced Mar-lee-nuh.

BQ: I think it's a lot prettier and more modern than Marlene. I like it and it's cute.

The only way I'd ever pronounce it -mar-LAY-na is if it had an accent like Marléna. Besides that I`d be more likely pronounced it -mar-LEE-na or even -mar-leh-na.

I would pronounce it Mar-Lee-Nah , because Lena is pronounce Lee-nah and Mar is pronounced like Mars without the s.If it was pronounce Mar-Lay-Nah it would be spelled Marlaina or Marlayna

After reading Water For Elephants i decided i loved this name! in the movie they pronounce it MarLAYna which i think is pretty and i like Laney as a nickname but marLEEna is VERY pretty too!

I like Mar-lay-nah. Its exotic and mar-lee-nah sounds like a feminized version of bob marley's name. Or the yellow lab from marley and me.
