My cats claw is messed up, can anyone help?
i woke up this morning and my cats claw was hanging off her paw and is all bloody, so it is my belief that it must of got caught on something. it is bloddy and we tried to wrap it in surgical tape but she got it off in like 2 seconds. i don't wanna have to pull the claw out because i don't know how far its in, and i don't want to just leave her because she is getting blood on things. what do i do?
We also can't get her to the vet because we can't afford it, how can we keep her comfortable for a few days?
Yhe reason we cannot afford it is because we just took a cat to the vet last week because it was allergic to fleas, and that costed a good chunk of change

Take her to the vet! Her finger join might have become dislocated and may require surgery and she probably will need some antibiotics to prevent infection. With a little vet care she should be fine.

The vet would be the best thing. It will depend on how long the bleeding continues. A claw is like a fingernail. We had one cat who got her claw stuck in her collar and the vet needed to remove it. We waited a couple days after taking her to the vet and it had not gotten better, so they removed it. The other cat had a similar thing happen and the vet had us wait, too. (Not bleeding all over things, though). We kept the leg wrapped and the claw fell off and a new, unretracable claw developed to cover the area. Ask the vet.
What we did for the second cat:
Put lots of antibiotic ointment on the area. Put a cotton protecting cover over it, then a gauze pad. Wrapped the entire paw with first aid tape, and ran it all the way up the leg. We did this at least once per day, and maybe twice. Antibiotic ointment each time. Made sure there was no infection. He could not get if off because it was stuck to his entire leg. But, of course, it is hard to get this off to examine and reapply which is very important. Take to the vet and proceed from there, because your cat could lose too much blood or get an infection running all the way up his leg, and also into his bloodstream. You don't want him to lose too much blood or get an infection.
Do not pull the claw out, which could cause more damage. Could be attached to arteries, ligaments, etc.

The best thing for your cat to avoid further injury is take her to the vet. On your way to the vet to comfort your cat try to keep her still and wrap it in an ace bandage or something like that. If your cats claw is hanging off, it is probably best that you take her to the vet immediately. Stitches may also be advised.Until you have time to take her to the vet, if you're going later in the afternoon, try to prevent as much movement as possible. A lot of movement could cause her claw to fall off or get worse.I hope your cat is okay! I hope this helps!

Bring her to a vet.
Depending on the injury the vet may be able to keep the claw - but that definite requires professional treatment, antibiotics to avoid infections, and pain medication since your cat will constantly use that paw.
if the claw/bone is destroyed, the vet may amputate it if that's the better option for your cat to shorten the recovery or if it is impossible to keep the claw due to bone damages.

If the vet recommends to get your cat de-clawed - simply grab your cat and run to an other vet.
A vet recommending de-clawing is into the money and does not care for the cat simply because he will make even more money to treat the side effects. Contact me if you like to get further information to be prepared.
The only reason why a claw could be removed are medical conditions (injuries/tumors, ...) to rescue the cat's life if no other option is left.
De-clawing is not a good idea at all - not even as prevention to avoid further injuries like that.
Only that one claw could be removed if required and no options left to safe the claw.
The therapy to avoid such injuries in the future should be a mix of:
Scratchers/scratch posts and nail trimming.
You can go to a professional groomer who trims cat nails. If you pay attention you will learn a lot and this will give you the possibility to trim your cat's nails later on.
Please always reward her after the nail trimming procedure since that helps her to adapt to the required procedure to avoid further injuries.

Sorry but your cat really does need to see a Vet, Talk to them about a payment plan most will work out a good cost effective plan, mention this when you call to make the appointment.
Unless this is a major surgery most vet visits are under $100. or $25.00 a week for a month.

Take her to a vet. The claw may need to be removed, but they will need to put in stitches afterwards and give you an antibiotic so it does not get infected, but this is not something you should be doing on your own.

Take her to vet hospital asap. She's probably in a lot of pain and needs medical attention to fix her claw and help with pain. Don't give her any over the counter pain medication most of them are toxic to animals. Good luck to you and your kitty too.
