Is this the proper format for this poem?

Also, does poetry have to be punctuated if in a stanza configuration?

Liberty is given to all by God. Then declared by poet and song. It is sustained by the blood of the free and brave. By those with sober and Godly resolve. It is lost by those that lack hindsight and expect it. It loses its value if not entertained. It is lost by those that lack the foresight to protect it. It slowly rusts if not properly maintained. It is mocked by those without God or shame. And by tyrants whose forces are large. It is forfeit when the Godly are timidly silent. And most easily when its keepers forsake their charge.
