What does "fort aux halles" mean?

I came across this in an old Joe Dassin song (l'équipe à Jojo), but it's an idiomatic expression I'm not familiar with. I'm not looking for a direct (word-for-word) translation, but an idiomatic translation. Would love to hear from some native French speakers.

Notice the capital letter. Les Halles was the place in Paris which corresponded to Covent Garden in London, where fruit and vegetables were traded wholesale. This person claimed to be strong, muscular and able to wield these heavy loads at Les Halles.

Les Halles ceased to be the market place of Paris soon after Covent Garden transferred business to Nine Elms. End of an era.
